The morning we left for NYC, Marc found time alone in the kitchen with Julie's Dad to ask for his blessing to marry Julie. Marc took his speechless hug as a yes.  After the proposal, Julie called her parents to tell them the good news, which they were already in on.

Marc's parents joined us on the trip to NYC. We had plans to meet them at MOMA on the day after and due to the long lines to go in, we suggested going to Rockefeller Plaza for a drink. Julie kept the engagement ring out of sight until we could share our good news.  Once seated at the café overlooking the ice-rink, Marc started to tell about the night before and how we'd gone to the observation deck and he'd 'fallen on one knee' Loes responded with concern about his injured knee. Our smiles gave away what had really happened...
